As a teacher, you get used to students leaving. They move on to a brand new adventure, often somewhere very far from where they came from. It's sad and amazing to watch them go each year, but they move on and become adults. I often think about my high school teachers and am grateful for their influence to get me where I am today.

In the last year, I have experienced something new. These students who left have returned, and they have brought so much joy and gratitude into my life. These students ran the team as seniors, and now they are back to be mentors, with an abundant amount of energy, dedication, and goodness.

It's a volunteer position, but these alumni mentors come two to six hours every week. They come to every event, and they are constantly doing what is best for the team. Their support and help overwhelm me and make my life so much easier. I find myself liking robotics again and hoping for the best.

I can't mention my mentors without also mentioning this guy. The day Comcast-Universal randomly placed him with us was one of the best moments of my life, as I gained a fabulous mentor and a wonderful friend.

Plus, he's one of the few people I know who can rock a giant pink dragon costume out in public.
