CSTA - Day 2

This day started pretty well but ended with my phone getting broken, so it was not my best day. I did have some good sessions, though. Here are the notes from my favorite session.

Increasing CS Retention and Relevancy through SEL

• Encourage students when they hit the standards to try to exceed them

• Challenge students to "step up"

• Help them learn to make mistakes

• Praise self-discipline

• Get students to help each other 

• Give work that encourages mistakes

• 10 minutes of trouble-shooting time

  • It's okay to be uncomfortable

  • Give them strategies to work through
